The author shares his views and thoughts on the transformation of the Bulgarian Armed Forces and the main challenges faced in the course of transfor­mation in the dynamically changing security environment in the beginning of 21st century. Special attention is paid to the important issues of transformation – capa­bilities development, modernization and professionalization of the Armed Forces.
