Trends in computer simulations are analyzed. Taking into account the technological base of the economy, we define capabilities and impediments to the development of simulators for the Bulgarian Armed Forces. Principal requirements to such simulators are formulated. The advantages of using the Microsoft kit SDK DirectX in the design of military purpose simulators are outlined.</p>
