The volume presents key results of the EU FP7 research project FOCUS. Number 1 provides an overview of the project and presents methods and techniques used in scenario-based foresight and key findings in regard to threats, scenarios, and plausible future roles of the European Union as a security actor. Number 2 links the scenarios to requirements for security research and industry products, along with a provocative view on what Europe needs to do in search of a framework for assessing the impact of global dynamics on its internal dynamics and addressing the future security challenges.
